Look beyond the skin this World Psoriasis Day

“Isn’t it just dry skin?” “Have you tried changing your diet?”

Comments like these may be well meant, but they can miss the reality of living with psoriasis. For World Psoriasis Day 2026, PAPAA is encouraging everyone to #LookBeyondMySkin and challenge common misconceptions.

Psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated condition, not simply dry skin. Its impact can extend beyond visible symptoms, affecting emotional wellbeing. Some people also develop psoriatic arthritis, which can cause joint pain, swelling and stiffness.

There is currently no cure, and changing your diet is not a quick fix. But treatment goes beyond creams, with options including phototherapy, oral medicines and targeted biological treatments.

Understanding starts with listening rather than making assumptions. Help us spread the word by sharing this article, and explore PAPAA’s website for information, resources and ways to support our work.
