Skin 'n' Bones Connection - Issue 61 - 2025

SKIN N Bones Issue 61 Front Cover

Dear Reader

Since the start of 2025, the world has seen significant changes, raising questions for the UK, especially for patients and healthcare innovation. The decision to scrap NHS England (pages 4 & 5) as a cost-saving measure has caused surprise and concern. While increased efficiency could benefit patient care, careful oversight is vital so valuable services aren’t lost.

Cost-saving may also impact research, but current studies continue to advance understanding of psoriatic disease. New insights on ultra-processed foods (pages 8 & 9) and links between psoriatic arthritis and endometriosis (page 16) highlight the need for ongoing monitoring. Worryingly, health scams and cyber-attacks (pages 10 & 11) are increasingly targeting vulnerable individuals, with recent reports showing no one is fully safe.

As we navigate these uncertain times, it is crucial that we remain vigilant, informed, and proactive in safeguarding both our health and our information. By supporting robust research, maintaining open dialogue, and protecting against exploitation, we can help ensure that the changes ahead will be managed in a way that truly benefits patients and the wider community. Together, we can face these challenges with resilience and hope.
