Empathy and seamless care

PAPAA was recently invited by Personal Homecare Pharmacy and Chief Patient Officer Liz Keating to share the patient perspective as part of their psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis awareness activities. The session highlighted how deeply empathy and understanding shape the experience of care for people living with these conditions.

People often tell us that what stays with them is not just the treatment they receive, but how they are listened to, believed and supported. When professionals take time to understand the impact of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis on daily life, it becomes easier to offer care that feels joined up, compassionate and truly person centred.

Seamless care is about more than systems and processes. It depends on conversations where patients feel safe to talk about their symptoms, worries and priorities, and on teams who are willing to work together around the individual. From specialist clinics to homecare pharmacy services, every interaction is an opportunity to show kindness, build trust and reduce the emotional burden of managing a long term condition.

At PAPAA, we believe that empathy is not an optional extra in healthcare; it is a core part of high quality care. By listening to and amplifying the patient voice, we aim to support health professionals and partners across the system to design services that are not only clinically effective, but humane, respectful and responsive to people’s real lives.
