PAPAA made available today the latest in its range of information leaflets aimed at people with psoriasis. The new leaflet called Psoriasis and phototherapy, explains what phototherapy is, what treatments are available and where these treatments take place.
Phototherapy or light therapy is the use of ultraviolet light, and for psoriasis either ultraviolet A or ultraviolet B waves are applied to the affected skin.
The material was reviewed and revised by Dr Christopher Edwards BSc (Hons) PhD MIPEM Consultant Medical Physicist, Aneurin Bevan Health Board, St Woolos Hospital in Newport, South Wales.
The material was subject to the rigorous Information Standard scheme processes that PAPAA apply as a member organisation, which includes extensive reviews by a lay panel of people affected by either psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis.
David Chandler Chief Executive of PAPAA said:
“...we are really pleased to have produced another valuable piece of evidence based information, which can be trusted and used as a reliable source of information for those considering phototherapy as a treatment for their psoriasis...”
He continued:
“...we are very grateful to those who reviewed the material, particular our lay panel of volunteers...”
