Any tips to help my psoriasis when swimming in the sea?

I’m going on holiday over the summer and know that my psoriasis gets better in the sun, but I also would love to swim in the sea, but in the past it’s made it worse, and tips to help me?

Follow these tips and enjoy your summer

Swimming in the sea can have an impact on psoriasis, but with the right precautions, you can reduce irritation and keep flare-ups at bay. Here are some tips to help: Pre-swim protection: Before swimming, apply a thick layer of mineral oil, coconut oil, or vaseline to your skin to create a barrier against saltwater and prevent dryness. Rinse immediately after swimming: As soon as you’re out of the water, rinse your body with fresh water to remove salt and prevent skin from becoming dry and irritated. Moisturize after swimming: Use a hydrating body lotion or leave-in treatment to lock in moisture and soothe your skin. Protect from the sun: Wear loose, protective clothing or apply sunscreen to prevent sunburn and skin irritation, which can worsen psoriasis. Limit swim time: Avoid prolonged exposure to saltwater to prevent further dryness or irritation. Post-swim soothe: After swimming, apply aloe vera gel or jojoba oil to calm and hydrate the skin. By following these steps, you can enjoy swimming while minimising the impact of psoriasis on your body.
