The theme for World Arthritis Day 2025 is:
"It's in your hands, take action".
This theme encourages individuals to get involved in raising awareness about Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases (RMDs) by sharing #WADHigh5 messages and taking photos of their hands in a High 5 pose.
The goal is to increase global awareness of RMDs and empower individuals to take action to improve their lives.
About the day
World Arthritis Day, held annually on 12 October, is a global awareness event established in 1996 by Arthritis and Rheumatism International (ARI) to highlight the impact of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) worldwide. These diseases, which include over 200 conditions, affect millions and often cause significant pain and disability, yet remain under-recognised.
The European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) now promotes World Arthritis Day, coordinating efforts across Europe to raise public and professional awareness, support scientific research, and improve care standards for people living with RMDs. Each year, EULAR focuses on themes that address challenges faced by patients and healthcare systems, such as access to care, workforce shortages, and the lifelong journey of living with these diseases.
World Arthritis Day serves as a platform to educate governments, healthcare providers, and the public about the importance of early diagnosis, effective treatment, and multidisciplinary care to reduce the burden of RMDs and improve quality of life for millions globally.
PAPAA will work with the organisation to raise awareness and promote the global activities.
